Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting stable, enriching friendships between children and adult mentors. We serve children between the ages of six and thirteen from 15 communities in the southern midcoast region, including Topsham, Brunswick, and Bath. The mission of our organization is to help children get the adult support they need to live happier, more productive lives.
Bowdoin College Bridge to Kids Mentoring Programs
Initiative The Bowdoin mentoring initiative strives to provide local children and youth with well trained, positive college student role models. All mentors attend an initial training and have the option to attend refresher trainings throughout the year. Each program involves a one-on-one match between a child and college student. Mentors find a convenient time in their schedule to meet with their mentee, on average, once a week, for an hour and are asked to commit an entire academic year to the program. Brunswick High School Connections
Communities for Children and Youth Communities for Children and Youth is a statewide initiative of the Maine Children's Cabinet designed to create a partnership between state government and local communities as they work to promote positive child and youth development. The goals of the initiative are to measurably improve the well-being of children in every Maine community, and increase educational attainment and achievement levels of all Maine children. Communities for Children and Youth invites all Maine communities to become Partner Communities. Since 1997, 71 communities have joined the network, representing more than 325 municipalities and 70% of the state's population.
Energy East
Maine Mentoring Partnership Maine Mentoring Partnership, Inc. (MMP) established in 2001 is a statewide public-private partnership of mentoring program providers, government, funders and supporters. It is an initiative of Maine Children's Cabinet. Its work reflects widespread belief among stakeholders that assuring children and youth access to a caring adult is a top priority, and that mentoring is a highly effective but under-utilized strategy for doing this in Maine. Our mission is to promote, advocate, foster and support child and youth mentoring programs throughout Maine with the goal of providing appropriately recruited, screened, trained and supported mentors for 35,000 Maine children and youth.

Riverview Foundation Prevention-based Leadership Development After-school Program for Middle School Youth -- Sagadahoc County. Tuition funded by State of Maine Tobacco Free Fund. Tuition based Classes in Universal Movement Martial Arts and Wilderness Education for Children and Teens. Specially designed alternative education programs, safety and awareness seminars.
Sweetser A Sweetser mentor, matched with one child, commits to regular visits (1-2 hours per week or every other week) and developing a positive, supportive relationship. A mentor acts as a role model and helps the child to become more involved in the community. Having someone special who cares can really motivate a child toward positive change. Serving Maine from Belfast to Kittery and beyond!
Volunteers of America NNE Program developed to help children of incarcerated parents make a successful transition from childhood to adolescence. The primary objectives are to increase the child's capacity for resiliency and to create a flexible mentoring model that supports the mentor and adapts to child-family needs and location. The program serves children of prisoners ages 8 to 15 in eight countries from Northern Cumberland to Washington County.
